scanning using DEXA for hip and spine site were taken from each subject. The
objective of this research is to determine the correlation between texture
parameter values of mandible trabecular with bone mass density values.
A correlation test was applied to determine the relationship between
mandible texture to osteoporosis that were indicated by the value of bone mineral
density (BMD) and T-score in the site of hip and spine. Texture extraction of a
periapical radiograph has been done using run length method, e.g. short run
emphasis (SRE), long run emphasis (LRE), low gray level run emphasis (LGRE),
and high gray level run emphasis (HGRE). Each of them then be correlated with
BMD and T-score for each site measurement by DEXA.
The result of correlation test showed negative correlation between SRE and
LGRE with bone mass density, and positive correlation between HGRE and LRE
with bone mass density, with the correlation strength is in the range of very weak
to up to moderate. A significant positive correlation occured between HGRE 135°
with the bone mass density value of spine. |
