Summary: | Children�s world as we know it is a world play, learn and of course dreaming
or daydreaming about the their dreams but all of it is not an ideal for a
child. Thousand reasons that are explained the presence of children working which
one of it is occurred on the Traditional Market Manonda Palu, Central Celebes. The
research conducted to find the phenomenon of child labor, particularly who worked
as Nolemba in Traditional Market Palu. The Statement of Probelms are, first how
working children as nolemba interpret themselves and their job?. Second, how
parents of working children as nolemba and users make sense of the existence of
working children as nolemba? and the third what are the local government�s program
that has been done? and whether the program has been accommodate the working
children as nolemba�s interests?.
The research was conducted at the central traditional market area Manonda as
a place of working children and in rural Kanuna areas as nolemba children residential
as well as some areas in both in Palu City and District Sigi Biromaru. Research study
was conducted between July until September 2010 and the research will be carried
out again in November to December 2011. Main informant in this study consisted of
(1) Children who work as porters nolemba. Limitation age of a child is between 10 to
17 years old, (2) parents whose children work as porters nolemba, (3) people who
use the porters� services as working child power nolemba, and (4), government
which represent by competent parties. Data collecting in this study carried out in the
literature review, followed by observation and an informant interview, while the
analysis of data research is using a phenomenological perspective.
Problems among the children who work nolemba are including various factor,
the first is the freedom and autonomy of the child nolemba, reward and the pleasure
that children got from their work and no regulations that make nolemba children
difficult to work. Shame is another reason why Nolemba children do not attend
school. Second factor is socio-cultural related to cultural awareness as well as
individual and collective as social systems and mechanisms in which working
children nolemba. It relates parents point of view, society and service users about the
presence of nolemba children
