Summary: | Poverty reduction is not being the responsibility of the central
government alone, but the local governments also have the responsibility for
reducing poverty in their respective areas. The sub-district as the local
government�s sub ordinate is one of the spearheads of dealing directly with the
people who were expected to help and to be pro-active in the implementation of
government�s poverty reduction programs. In this regard, this study aims to
determine the effect of government spending and the labor force districts to the
level of poor households in the district.
This study uses quantitative methods using panel data regression that
there are indirect expenditure of sub-district government, direct expenditure of
sub-district government, the level of the labor force and the rate of poor
households in each sub-district. The data used are secondary data obtained from
the Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS) Sleman and Dinas Pengelolaan Kekayaan dan
Aset Daerah (DPKAD) Kabupaten Sleman.
The results this research are indicate that indirect government spending
districts have not significantly affect to the level of poverty. While the direct
expenditure of sub-district government and the level of sub-district labor force are
significantly effect on the rate of poor households in the sub-district in Sleman.
