description Contamination of pollutans in river and soil along the river that polluted more by human activities (anthropogenic), such as disposal of industrial and domestic waste. One type of inorganic pollutants that are toxic to living organism are cadmium (Cd). Cd metal from the river water will move into the land along the river is naturally or by human activity, and in turn will be absorbed by plants and enter the human food chain. Therefore it is necessary to reduse the Cd uptake by plants using organic matter as metal adsorbant compounds. This study aims to examine the distribution of Cd in the land along the CBL river and plants and learn how the influence of organic matter on Cd uptake by plants. The research was conducted in the CBL River, located in the district of Bekasi West Java, using two methods, survey and experimental methods. Methods of survey conducted mainly in water, soil and plants sampling to assess the concentrations of Cd and the pH of soil and water. The experiment methods carried out to study how the influence of organic matter on Cd uptake of the three test plants, ie kale, spinach and caisin. Statistical analyzes were performed using diversity analysis, comparative analysis of the mean, Pearson correlation analysis and regression analysis. The results showed that the content of Cd in soil (along the transversely) the higher the water closer to the river. The presence of Cd metal in the land along the river that is close (3 meters) over the displacement caused by natural water from the river, while on land used for cultivation of more caused by the use of water for watering plants by farmers. The use of river water for watering the plants more frequently performed during the dry season, when the concentration of Cd metal in river water is high relatively. The content of Cd in tissue of plant test (spinach, kale and caisin) has a positive correlation with the content of Cd in the soil. The higher content of Cd in the soil, the higher content of Cd in plant tissues. The content of Cd in root tissue is much higher than its content in the plant canopy. The average content of Cd from different test plants, the highest of the spinach> spinach> caisin. The application of organic matter (in the form of straw compost) is very real effect in reducing Cd uptake by plants. At doses of 10 tons / ha can be lowered by 17.62% Cd content in root tissue and 31.62% in the plant canopy.
