Summary: | This research describes two- year- old child�s language
acquisition process and his ability to understand utterances in
conversations. The purposes are (1) describing two-old-year- child�s
utterances form, (2) explaining two-year-old child�s speech function
development in conversations, and (3) describing two-year-old- child�s
ability in understanding his next speaker�s utterances in conversations.
This research uses qualitative and study case method within
two-year-old child�s utterances in conversation as the data. The resources
are Dipo Khadra Hardianto and people around home and school. The data
are collected by participant observational technique, recording, and writing
in data card. Furthermore, the writer also uses a technique to identify
child�s comprehension. Data is analyzed then delivers through informal
technique.
This research shows that two- year- old child is familiar
with declarative, interrogative, and imperative sentences. He also can
deliver those sentences by variations of main length utterances. There are
two speech acts of two-year- old child�s utterances
