Summary: | English and Indonesian are two different languages from two different families.
However, both have preposition instead of postposition for its adpositional unit. They have
many prepositions. Based on their meaning, locative and temporal preposition are among the
most interesting prepositions to be studied.
Regarding the point above, this study aims at describing locative and temporal
prepositions in English and Indonesian to be contrasted. Afterwards, the preposition of each
language will be translated into another.
The theory used is structural theory and this study is a descriptive study. Based on the
theory and method, it is expected that there will be a comprehensive analyses on forms,
functions, and meanings of preposition in English and Indonesian.
After observing and analyzing, it is figured out that there are similarities between
prepositional phrase in English and Indonesian. The similarities include form, function, and
meaning. Meanwhile, there are also differences between prepositional phrase in English and
Indonesian. Besides, there is also an attempt to look for the equivalent preposition in both
languages.
