Summary:This study deals with the effort to utilize the waste stuff in this case centrifugal pump. In basicly, this research purpose to discover the characteristics of pump as turbine performance using centrifugal pump. A centrifugal pump is a Francise turbine running backwards.Water between the rotor vanes experiences centrifugal force flows radially outwards from the middle to the outside. As it flows, it gains kinetic energy and when thrown off the outer of the rotor, the kinetic energy must be converted into flow energy. The use of vanes similar to those in the Francis wheels helps.The energy potency can be recovered by small turbine. Using pump as turbine instead of turbine is another alternative and was chosen in this study Characteristics and efficiency of pump as turbine using centrifugal pump can be identified after laboratory experimental already finished. From the experiments, can be obtained pump as turbine efficiency 13.86 %. Although pump as turbine�s efficiency is small relatively, it�s still get benefit to use.
