Description
Summary:Flow characteristics of the meandering river is relatively different from the characteristics of the flow in the river straight. At the bend of the river will usually change the river bed, which deposition occurred on the inner side, while scour occurs on the outer side. Changes in the riverbed is believed to greatly influenced by the size of the basic shear stress,o. To determine shear stress effect of changes on the basis channel, laboratory research is done using a flume that has 180º angle bends. middle radius 1.25 m, width 0.5 m, and high 0.4 m. Basic channels be relatively uniform sand (d50 = 1 mm) with a thickness of 0,1 m. Flow conditions are used permanent flow (steady flow) with discharge 23,307 l/s. Measurement of 3D flow characteristics (velocity distribution, turbulence, and Reynolds shear stress) performed using Acoustic Doppler Velocimeter (ADV). The results of this study indicate that at 0o, 30o and 60o cross section, Reynolds shear stress component distribution s z vv and n z vv . is greater in outer banks regional, while the cross section 90o, 120o, 150o and 180o Reynolds shear stress component distribution s z vv and n z vv ., is small in the outer bank regions. count of the data of basic shear stress approximated using velocity distribution data (Clauser method) showed unfavorable results of conformity with the Reynolds shear stress values
