Summary: | This study aimed to determine the influences of factors of land size,
labors, harvesting age, seasons, category of land, land preparation, water source,
land types and variety of sugarcane in the sugar factory of Gondang Baru and to
determine the relationship between the production of sugarcane in the sugar
factory of Gondang Baru with sugar crystal produced. The research was
conducted in the Sugar Factory of Gondang Baru, Klaten, Central Java
purposively. This study used secondary data namely the production data of
growing season in 2009/2010 and the growing season in 2010/2011. The data
taken was the data of the farm processed by farmers and having cooperation with
the farmers in the Sugar Factory of Gondang Baru. Data included the land size,
labors, harvesting age, seasons, category of the land, land process, water source,
land types and varieties. This study used a correlated and multiple linear
regression analysis tool.
The results showed that the factors affecting sugarcane production were
land size, the number of labors, and harvesting age. While the seasonal factor
suggested that if rainfall was below 2000 mm per year, the production of
sugarcane produced was higher than the rainfall above 2000 mm per year. Canes
grown in paddy fields produced sugarcane production which was higher than
canes grown in dry land. The production of canes in the Sugar Factory of
Gondang Baru had a strong and meaningful relationship with the production of
sugar crystal, namely the higher the production of canes, the higher the production
of sugar crystals produced.
