description Background: Gadjah Mada University (UGM) in Yogyakarta has applied a waste water management technology using a Land Application Method, where the waste water is used to water fields. The domestic waste water from UGM that is discharged into the Karang Malang canal contains the heavy metals Pb and Cd, with concentrations of approximately 0.0089 mg/l and 0.0020 mg/l respectively. Even though it is still under the required quality standards, it could still cause harm because of the nature of Pb and Cd which can accumulate in vegetables and the human body. Thus it is necessary to find out how much the levels of the pollutants BOD, COD, Nitrite, pH, Pb and Cd have decreased through the domestic waste water processing done by UGM, and the content of heavy metals Pb and Cd in vegetables which are irrigated with this waste water. Objective: to analys the decrease in the concentrations of BOD, COD, Nitrite, pH, Pb and Cd in the domestic waste water processing using the land application method used by UGMs Garden Roof in Yogyakarta, the edibility, and the difference in the heavy metals Pb and Cd content of vegetables from the Garden Roof of UGM and ones sold in 3 traditional markets in Yogyakarta. Method: This study utilized a survey method with a cross-sectional design. Data were analyzed in a descriptive manner and statistical analysis used a T-test (paired sample test) and Anova. Result: The result of the study showed that there was a significant difference for the BOD (tcount 3.65, p<0.05) and COD (tcount 3.77, p<0.05) parameters before and after being passed through the vegetable field of the amount 51.73% and 55.45%
