description The ceramic of Singkawang West Kalimantan is the cultural product that deserves appreciation. It is made by the rotating technique and simple tools. The motif has been stagnant but it has long-lasting esthetics. What is interesting about this ceramic is that since long time ago, the motif has not undergone any change nor any development while other ceramics significantly develop their design, shape, technique, and function. Another interesting character is that it maintains ornamental motif which is the characteristic of Chinese motives of chryssanthemum, peony, meutan, and lotus. These flowers do not grow in Singkawang. All artisans make similar motif, especially the expressive dragon motif. The ceramic is burnt in dragon-shaped stove which is exclusively found in Singkawang. The analysis in the dissertation employ a multidisciplinary approach that focuses on historical, cultural, value, functional, and esthetic aspects. Data was collected through direct observation, literature review, artshop and museums, and visit to potential people with important information. The result swhows that ceramic from Singkawang West Kalimantan is based on the underlying Chinese esthetics symbolized in motif inherited by the ancestors. The spirits manitested in the motif have divine values that lead people to the goodness, truth, grandeur, power, wisdom, and transformation towards the betterment. This implies that the life of the civilized creatures leads to the servitude to the creator. As contectual the ceramic has highly-esthetic. It can be synthesized that the artworks based on divine values will be in eternity�, in the tectual not well as cilindry ceramic. The motif keeped for identity.
