Summary: | Background: Workload of nurses is all activities performed during the nurses on duty at the health care unit, nursing activities include direct, indirect, and non-nursing. Workload need to know to make quality health care. Nursing workload measurement is not performed routinely in RSUD Dr. H. Mohamad Rabain so the need for research on nurse workload.
Objectives: Calculate the percentage of the workload of nurses and nursing activity time achievement for direct, indirect, and non-nursing is based on shift in ICU, inpatient, and the operating room.
Method: This type of research is observational research with cross sectional design. For observing the activities of nursing staff using the method of work sampling. The study sample was nursing staff activities for 7 days by shift in ICU, inpatient medicine, and the operating room began on 6 � 26 June 2012. Number of respondents who observed acticities of 51 people consisting of 15 nursing staff in the ICU, 18 nursing staff in operating room, and 18 nursing staff inpatient medicine, while the observer there is 3 people.
Results: The results in the ICU, time and percentage of direct nursing activity on the morning shift was 668.9 minutes (29.90%), afternoon shift 511.85 minutes (22.22%), and 338.79 minutes a night shift (13.54%). Indirect nursing activities on the morning shift was 716.38 minutes (32.01%), afternoon shift 608.37 minutes (26.40%), and 477.93 minutes a night shift (18.65%). While the non-nursing activities on the morning shift was 852.44 minutes (38.09%), afternoon shift 1183.91 (51.38%), and 1808.13 hours a night shift (67.81%). In inpatient internal medicine, time and percentage of direct nursing activity on the morning shift is 1584.99 hours (42.96%), 1002.58 minute afternoon shift (33.72%), and night shift 838.09 minutes (20.3%). Indirect nursing activities on the morning shift 1152 minutes (31.21%), afternoon shift 727.23 minutes (24.48%), and 658.93 minutes a night shift (16%). While the non-nursing activities in the morning shift 954.5 minutes (25.83%), afternoon shift 1242.6 (41.8%), and 2630.27 minutes a night shift (63.7%). In the operating room, time and percentage of direct nursing activity on the morning shift 1656 minutes (49.62%), afternoon shift 2469 minutes (59,32%), and 1609 minutes a night shift (39.35%). Indirect nursing activities on the morning shift was 674.58 minutes (20.22%), afternoon shift 973.7 minutes (23.3%), and night shift 263.2 minutes (6.43%). While for non-nursing activities on the morning shift was 1006.4 minutes (30.16%), afternoon shift 725.1 (17.38%), and night shifts 2217 minutes (54.22%).
Conclusions: Direct nursing activities and indirect dominated on the morning shift in the ICU and inpatient internal medicine, while in the operating room dominated by afternoon shift. Non-nursing activities dominated in the ICU, inpatient internal medicine, and operating room dominated by night shift.
