Summary: | This study aimed to describe the perceptions of students of Master of
Management in Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM MM) against gender
discrimination in employment. In this study, the author used a qualitative
approach. The data was obtained through focus group discussion. The data
obtained was then analyzed using content analysis.
The results showed that the students of MM UGM perceive gender
discrimination in employment as a form of unfair treatment. In addition, students
also looked at gender discrimination in employment as something that is unethical
and they reject gender discrimination. Nevertheless, under certain conditions the
practice of gender discrimination exists in the form of glass ceiling which is
perceived as reasonable. That is because of the existing presence of multiple roles
of women workers, namely as a mother and as a career woman.
