Summary: | Tourism development can create green tourism towards sustainable tourism development
and can be used to encourage life change and a better livelihood for local people as well as
environmental sustainability. In order to build village economy based on democracy, building a
tourist village is very relevant. The tourist village built is expected to have the same economic
equality and also will be able to empower the people development.
The research is conducted at the Tourism Village Sambi Orchard, Pakembinangun
Village, Pakem Sub-district, Sleman District. The purposes of this study are (1) to know the role
or involvement of stakeholders in the Sambi Tourism Village activities with the support of
stakeholders exsistence, (2) to know participation level, types of activities and the contribution
forms of the people in terms of education and occupation factors, (3) Provide direction or advice
for people participation in the development of Tourism Village in the Sambi Orchard. The
method used is through census method by collecting primary data and secondary data. Primary
data retrieval is done by Indepth Interview and direct interview to the respondent, 65 heads of
family who lives in the sites. Analysis technique used is by using cross-table analysis (Crosstab),
Kai squares, and correlation.
The results show that (1) The people less take roles or include actively in Tourism
Village Sambi activities, (2) Education is a factor affecting the participation level, the types of
activities, and the contribution forms of the people in form of thought, energy and financial
capital to subsidy the Tourism Village Development, (3) To encourage the participation of
society required: transparency, people activity supported by the invitation of Tourism Village
management, increased sensitivity to the aspirations of the people, and a fair manager policy not
only in the division of tasks but also in decision-making.
