Summary: | This study aims to analyze the inequality of school participation in Junior
High Schools and to analyze several factors that influence the level of school
participation at Junior High School in the province Bangka Belitung islands
during period 2005-2010. The data that is used in this study is panel data from 7
districts / cities in the Province of Bangka Belitung Island from period 2005 until
2010.
In this study, The Williamson�s inequality indexes will be used to analyze
the levels of inequality of school participation in the Junior High Schools in the
province of Bangka Belitung Islands. Moreover, in order to find the best model
that well suited for the analysis, this study will also use the regresion analysis of
panel data to test the spesification of the model. Furthermore, The model will be
used to analyse factors that might have influence in the level of school
participation.
The results show that the levels of inequality of school participation in
Junior High School among districts / cities in the province of Bangka Belitung
during period 2005 until 2010 experienced a declining trend. The results of the
panel data regression analysis also show that education spending variable and the
variable of path length ratio of the total area shows a significantly positive
influence of school participation in the Junior High School.
