Summary: | HRS-WC mixture having asymmetric gradation causes pores of mixture
opened wider, so it causes oxidation on the asphalt mixture. In order to solve the
problem, filler was applied to fill up the pores in the mixture since it can increase its
flexibility and durability.. In the research crumb rubber was used as substitute of
filler. By using crumb rubber, it is expected that durability and stability of mixture as
well as Indirect Tensile Strength of HRS-WC mixture will be obtained when it is
submerged at 60oC during 2, 4, 7 and 14 days.
The research used four variations of crumb rubber content 0%, 5%, 10% and
15%. The durability test was conducted using Marshall test apparatus and the ITS
test used modified Marshall apparatus on the submersion of 2, 4, 7 and 14 days at
60oC. For ITS, preparation of dry samples and samples conditioning were conducted
in advance to make them saturated.
It was reported that the stability of samples submerged during 2 - 14 days
with the crumb rubber content 0% are 1449 kg, 1215 kg 1141 kg and 1136 kg
