Summary: | The research analized Sastrajendra Hayuningrat Pangruwating Diyu in
'Alap-alap Sukesi' story by Ki Nartosabdho. The relevance of this research is
evident because it has as material object the moral development of the Indonesian
nation as Scheler�s axiology is its formal object. The Sastrajendra Hayuningrat
Pangruwating Diyu is part of the Javanesse philosophy of live as shown in the
wayang purwa performance with the title 'Alap-alap Sukesi' story. Sastrajendra
Hayuningrat Pangruwating Diyu' s basic concept is the power (ratuning basuki)
that functions for the welfare of the universe (rahayu ningrat) in eliminating
brutal desire of human beings (pangruwating diyu). Javanese people believe that
by eliminating the brutal desire man would become a perfect being, liked Gods.
The research of Sastrajendra is structured as follows: (1) the description of
Sastrajendra Hayuningrat Pangruwating Diyu in 'Alap-alap Sukesi' story
Nartosabdho (2) the analysis of the values embodied in Sastrajendra Hayuningrat
Pangruwating Diyu (3) the relevance Sastrajendra Hayuningrat Pangruwating
Diyu to the moral development of Indonesian nation. The research is based upon
the qualitative methode which implies the process of collecting data and
documentation by library research. The collected data are analized accorrding to
the following methods: description, hermeneutics and heuristics.
The research results show that Sastrajendra Hayuningrat Pangruwating
Diyu �the story as well as the wayang performance� contain a hierarchy in values
, from (1) holy values in Sastra sinengker (2) spiritual values in Sastra cetha (3)
life values in 'Alap-alap Sukesi' story (4) pleasure values in wayang performance.
The Wayang performance is the theatrical manifestation of the Javanese
philosophical life, where ethical and aesthetic life come together in a unified
form, which complement each other. The moral concept in Sastrajendra serves as
introduction to God, the teaching of Hayuningrat aims to harmonise men and the
universe, Pangruwating diyu is focused upon self improvement, and the Sastra
sinengker is the secret teaching how to realise God. In the wayang performance
the concept of life as taught in the Sastrajendra is manifested on a theatrical
way. This way of presentation is beneficial for the moral development of the
Indonesian nation as by this popularisation the life concept of Sastrajenda is more
easily understood.
