| Summary: | The objective of this study is to analyze poverty in Sulawesi Utara
Province and Gorontalo Province with multidimensional and monetary poverty
approaches. It is expected that conditions, spatial distribution, and the
development of monetary and multidimensional poverty in the two provinces in
the period of 2008-2011 can be recognized.
Using the multidimensional approach, poverty is measured and analyzed
by considering other than monetary dimensions, such as education, health, and
living standard. The measurement of multidimensional poverty in this study used
the Alkire Foster method. In calculating the multidimensional poverty indicators,
the study was conducted by referring to a study by Alkire and Santos (2010).
Using data from the 2008 and 2011 National Socio-Economic Survey
(Survei Sosial-Ekonomi Nasional�Susenas), results of the study were as follows.
(1) The conditions of monetary and multidimensional poverty in both provinces
indicate that (a) the poverty measured by considering monetary dimension only
gives picture different from that of the poverty also measured by considering
various non-monetary dimensions
