Summary:This thesis is about Native Americans issue, identity, since it is the main issue faced by Native Americans nowadays. The many painful events are the main reasons why identity becomes the most important issue for Native Americans. As the problem is so important many ways are used to show and solve the problem. One of the means performing the problem is a novel entitled Power by Linda Hogan. In the novel, the main character, Omishto, struggles to re-gain her identity as a Native American. It is a challenge to see the reason and the problems to re-embrace the old ways. Therefore, this study tries to figure out the reason and the problems to re-embrace the old ways. The research undergoes library research. Besides, it employs interdisciplinary approach as the basic principle of American Studies. The main data of the study is novel entitled Power by Linda Hogan. While, some other sources, for example, United States Legal History which consist of colonial era (to 1830), removal and reservation (1830-1887), allotment and assimilation (1887-1934), reorganization (1934-1953), termination and relocation (1953-1968), and self determination (1968-present)
