| Summary: | This study wants to analize the spirit of work among Egyptians to
minimize unemployment rate. The philosophy of the writer�s life has inspired by
his socio-economic condition of the Egyptian society. Ichsan �Abd al-Quddus
finished this novel in 1980 had felt the effect of Anwar Sadat�s political and
leadership era.
This novel tells the success story of a billionaire who built a life with
working independently. His success is not derived from the legacy of parents or
from the scholarship, even he was a nobody, an unknown origin suggested. But it
was built by sincerity, perseverance and patience in the fight for his success as an
important tool in building wealth. From his experience that he wanted to practice
independent living to their children so that they can force independently the
economic downturn and unemployment.
The life of Egyptian people were influenced by the works of novelists
who express their opinion on both their novel and in visual forms such as movies.
So that novel Lan A�isya fi Jilbabi Abi is a novel that can be used as a solution to
increase the spirit of struggle and work to improve their economic life in this era.
Through comments or feedbacks from the readers, and library study for data
collection, this research analyzed through the methodology of Jauss (reception
theory). Under the umbrella of Middle Eastern research. This research used
interdisciplinary to analyze characters in novel that describe their spirit of
independent life. This research will accommodate the readers�feedbacks to this
novel so that can understand the spirit of life among the Egyptians today.
The results of this study show that this approach has revealed responses of
different readers that brings new resonance. From Jauss�s method can also reveal
the power struggle for the Egyptian people to live independently is lacking, it was
caused that they are very dominant dependence on parents. Of reader response
can also note the formation of independent life of Egyptian society. From the
response of the reader is also a work of history can be synergized with the general
regulations. Through the dialogue of the text results that there are readers who
emulate and reject the depicted characters in the novel.
