Summary: | Background of this research is the increasing of number people
did not vote in each election in Indonesia,recorded in 2004 the number of
people did not vote increased to 23% from the previous election period
and in the year of 2009 increased again to 39%. The constanst escalation
is a threat to the democratic process in this country, voters are more
apathetic and do not care about the fate of their nation any more. That's
what voters are considered to have an important role as the next
generation to continue and strengthen democratic process of this nation.
This study is focused on the factors that influence voting behavior
of Indonesian citizens aged 17 � 22 years old. More specifically, research
and analysis will be performed to measure how authoritarian personality
effects voting behavior for young voters and to measure how parents,
peers, and teacher as references group for young votereffect their voting
behavior. As much as 238 participants were involved in the study. The
data will be analyzed by quantitative method with using path analysis. The
result of this research showed that authoritarian personality influence
