and Mawasangka dialect (DM) in Buton regency. This research was conducted
based on the synchronic and the diachronic studies. The synchronic study shows
that both languages have closed relationship in phonological, lexical, and bound
morpheme. Mn and Wk languages have allophones of [a:], [i:], [e:], and [o:] as
realization of long vowel sound, bilabial implosive consonant /�/, alveolar
implosive /�/, velar fricative /�/, and all syllables are opened or categorized as
vocalist languages with most words are two syllables. Related to bound
morpheme, Mn language (DT and DM) has prefix /ti-/ as passive verbal former
that is realized with prefix /to-/ or /te-/ in Wk, and also has free variation of suffix
/-e/.
In addition, the result of the diachronic study in quantitative approach
which used the lexicostatistic technique shows that the relationship of DT-DM,
