Summary: | Preparation, characterization, and catalytic activity test of Cr/ZAA,
Cu/ZAA, Ni/ZAA, and Pd/ZAA catalysts for hydrocracking of polyethylene
terephthalate (PET) waste had been carried out. The PET is a plastic polymer
resin of the polyester thermoplast. Natural zeolite of Sukabumi (ZA) was
activated in order to obtain the active natural zeolite (ZAA). Dispersion of Cr, Cu,
Ni, and Pd metals on ZAA was performed by wet impregnation method using
salts precursor of Cr(NO3)3·9H2O, Cu(NO3)2·3H2O, Ni(NO3)2·6H2O, and PdCl2,
which was then calcined and reduced. The characterization of catalyst including
determination of total acid sites, crystallinity, and specific surface area, each was
determined using NH3 and pyridine base was analyzed using an infrared
spectrometer (IR) by gravimetric methods, X-ray diffraction (XRD), and surface
area analyzer. Hydrocracking of the PET waste was carried out in a stainless steel
reactor at a temperature of 350oC and flow rate of hydrogen gas was 20 mL/min
for 1 h with a ratio of catalyst/feed 1: 10. The results of hydrocracking liquid
products were analyzed by GC. The results showed that specific surface area of
ZA, ZAA, Cr/ZAA, Cu/ZAA, Ni/ZAA, and Pd/ZAA catalysts was 24.629
