| Summary: | The study that based on case studies of the phenomenon of disputes among
student group has two main objectives. First, to find the relationship between
messages distributions process with ethnocentrism. The second, to explains how
ethnocentrism and conflict are affecting each other in student ethnic groups. This
study used a qualitative descriptive method, through field studies (in-depth
interviews) and literature study too.
The results showed that by having a low level of understanding, supported by
conflict history of communicators experienced, there is a tendency of the
transformation process of negative information to be effective. So, with the
absorption of negative information, an ethnocentrism aspect of group members was
raised. The emergence of these aspects then comes down to awareness and solidarity
groups to join into in-group forces. Other findings also indicate that the causes of
conflict between ethnic groups of students in Kupang can be summarized in two
points, namely: first
