posture for defecation using sitting closet. Natural posture for defecation was
squatting posture and this posture had been applied in most countries. Sitting posture
was reported as the source of some health problem such as colon cancer,inflamantory
bowel disease, appendicitis, hernia, diverticulosis dan hemorrhoids.
Objective : To assess the comparisonrelationship between sitting position during
defecation with squatting position during defecation to the lateral inguinal hernia
incidence.
Methods : We conducted a case control study on January - July 2012. The study
sample were male aged � 40 years old with reponible and ireponible lateral inguinal
hernia and with the other surgical diseases. Samples taken from Dr. Sardjito general
hospital Yogyakarta and networking general hospitals as much as 30 patients with
reponible and ireponible lateral inguinal hernia as the case group and 30 patients with
the other surgical diseases as a control group. The samples were asked to fill out a
questionnaire that had been prepared.
Results: From 60 samples in this research obtained sitting closet users are 50% and
squatting closet users are 50%. In the crosstabanalysis found relative risk 1,5 and
odds ratio 2,250.
Conclusion: Based on the results of the crosstab analysis can be concluded that there
is a relationship between sitting position during defecation with lateral inguinal
hernia incidence. Sitting position during defecation is the risk factor for the lateral
inguinal hernia incidence and sitting position during defecation pose the risk to the
lateral inguinal hernia incidence of 2,250 times greater than defecation with squatting
position. |
