description | This research aims to analyze why Indonesia supports scheme Reducing
Emissions from Deforestation and Degradation (REDD+) as one of the
scheme in the issues of climate change in the United Framework
Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). A subsequent also discussed
the advantages of what to expect from this political environment. The
analysis was conducted through the study of literature from a variety of
journals, books, research reports and other sources. By processing these
data, the author then map the position of Indonesia between developing
countries and developed countries. Indonesia as the largest emitter in the
world from deforestation and degradation seen support for REDD+ could
be one way to repair its image in international community. Indonesia can
also obtain funding from abroad to improve forest governance.
Furthermore, by incorporating the mechanism of REDD+ Carbon Market,
Indonesia likely to receive a large sum of money. But REDD+ forest itself
doesnt guarantee improvement. It can be seen from tough negotiation
REDD+ that have not completed in UNFCCC. In addition, various
REDD+ demonstation activities did not show satisfactory progress. |
