Summary: | Clean water is the most basic need for human beings. However, many rural areas
remain have no access to healthy drinking-water. Rural communities independently have
taken advantages of the relatively limited water resources around them. The
consequences of this limited water availability encourage community groups to manage
the water wisely. One of PAMDes groups that belong to the pilot PAMDes is PAB
(Pengelola Air Bersih (Clean-Water Management)) "Tirta Jaya Manunggal" located in
Piyungan District where most regions consist of mountains and therefore it is difficult for
PDAM services to reach these areas. At the beginning of the establishment, the PAB
"Tirta Jaya Manunggal", inaugurated on 20 August 2009, only served Dusun Prayan.
Later, in its development, this PAB group can provide services until Dusun Ngelosari.
Such conditions trigger the administration of research on the service strategies applied by
the PAB group of "Tirta Jaya Manunggal".
The approach used in this study is a case study and the object under study is the
PAB "Tirta Jaya Manunggal" which remains active delivering its services until now.
Informants in this study are key persons selected by purposive sampling techniques. In
this case study, the analysis employed is qualitative analysis.
The success of PAB "TJM" in providing services is supported by the strategy
adopted by the group, i.e. 1) professional service 24 hours, 2) obligation to use a water
meter, and 3) social media utilization and also 4) community involvement in the planning
and execution of group activities. Based on these research findings, the community in the
areas under study has socio-cultural conditions that remain upholding the spirit of mutual
assistance (gotong royong), tolerance, and high commitment in maintaining the
sustainability of the group. In order to maintain the sustainability of the group to continue
providing clean-water services, the potential of the community should always be
maintained in supporting the activities of PAB "Tirta Jaya Manunggal".
