Summary: | Obesity is one health problem that began to emerge in Indonesia. The effects
of obesity can be viewed both physically and psychologically, one of the effect
is low self esteem especially in girl. Cognitive behavioral therapy in group is
expected to efectively increase self-esteem in obese girls. The subject of this
study are 10 obese girls, aged 12-15 years with a BMI (body mass index) of at
least 25 and have self-esteem on middle or low range. Measurement of selfesteem
will be using a diary composed of aspects of self-esteem Reasoner. The
study design using the methods of experimental research with the untreated
control group design with dependent pretest and posttest samples. The
experimental group will be given a CBT intervention ingroup performed twice
in a week for four weeks followed by two weeks of follow-up. The control
group will not be given any treatment, self-esteem will be measured before,
after, and two weeks follow up of the study. Analysis of data using the method
of mann whitney with SPSS. The results are CBT ingroup effective to improve
self-esteem of obese girls in the experimental group compared with control
group.
