Summary: | This study, entitled �Mantra in The Book of Primbon Attasadhur
Adammakna: The Approach of Structure and Metaphor�, describes the use of
structure and metaphor in the mantra of Kidung Mantrawedha, Kidung
Japawedha, and Kidung Ajiwedha. Those mantra are written by Sunan Kalijaga
found in the book of Primbon Atassadhur Adammakna. This research explains the
structure of mantra, types of metaphor, and function of mantra in society.
This study uses qualitative descriptive method which is done based on real
facts or phenomena. The process of collecting data uses library research
technique. This technique explores written sources such as magazine, newspaper,
or literature as the data.
The result of this study shows that the mantra of Kidung Mantrawedha,
Kidung Japawedha, and Kidung Ajiwedha have structure which consist of the
element of title, the element of suggestion, the element of purpose, and the
element of closure. Based on semantic field, the types of metaphor found in those
three mantra are being, cosmos, energy, substance, object, living, animate, and
human. The function of mantra Kidung Mantrawedha, Kidung Japawedha, and
Kidung Ajiwedha for society are for medicinal treatment, exorcism, love charm,
body invulnerability, and wish fulfilling.
