| description | Objective of this research was to study effect of production factor (pond
area, female fish, feed, fertilizer and work force) in Sleman regency, measure and
analyze income factor (pond area, female price, feed price, fertilizer price and
wage) and income level obtained from breeding, and identify alternative strategy
of tilapia breeding business in Sleman Regency.
Sample was taken using purposive sampling technique that took
intentionally location of Mlati district, Kalasan district, Ngemplak district, and
Cangkringan district that is centre for tilapia breeding business in Sleman regency.
Determination of respondent using Slovin equation resulted in 50 respondents
with simple random sampling. Data was analyzed using production function
analysis, income function, aquaculture income, and development strategy.
Analytical tool used was multiple linear regression on Cobb-Douglas production
and income function using Ordinary Least Square (OLS). To formulate
development strategy, analytical tool used is SWOT and Internal External Matrix
(IE Matrix). Before analyze development strategy, validity and reliability tests
were conducted to statement used in SWOT analysis and Internal External Matrix
(IE Matrix).
Result of analysis indicated that variable pond area (KLM), amount of
feed (PKN) and amount of fertilizer (PPK) affect positively significantly, while
variable amount of female fish (IND) and amount of worker (TK) did not
influence significantly on amount of tilapia production. Tilapia breeding business
is very good to run in Sleman regency because it has high R/C score (1.92 per
1000m
2
) with average income of Rp 14,538,543. Income function indicate
variable pond area and female fish price (H_IND) influence positive significantly,
while feed price (H-PKN), fertilizer price (H-PPK) and wage (U-TK) did not
influence significantly on income of tilapia breeding business. Development
strategy that can be formulated based on results of SWOT and IE Matrix analysis
is to improve product quality (tilapia seed), improve human resource quality,
intensify promotional activity, and make product diversification to prevent over
production. |
