| Summary: | This research was done in north Batang coastal areas in Central Java,
Indonesia, in order to identify potency of natural resources that support mangrove
development, analyze true mangrove existence and community participation for
conservation in mangrove ecosystem to reach sustainable management. The
natural mangrove ecosystem is changing because of decreasing number of an area
with vegetations and increasing number of pond areas.
The true mangroves density in north Batang coastal areas in Central Java,
Indonesia are analyzed based on transect square measurements and vegetation
analysis method. Primary data collected with transect method to measure true
mangrove density in mangrove ecosystem. Aspects which are studied ecological
aspects by measurement of true mangrove density in mangrove ecosystem and
social aspect by observing community participation.
The result showed that true mangrove density for Rhizophora sp. with
seedling and sapling phase is the dominant species. It mostly grew up and spread
along Batang coastal area. Local community participation of mangrove ecosystem
has shown good progress and it should be monitored by government. Thus
