| Summary: | Indonesia has a lot of pent-up local culture. Research on the local culture is
very possible to do, is to introduce and develop the culture of the area had not
been previously known. One is a tapis cloth which is a traditional craft of
Lampung. Tapis cloth is one of the results of the regional culture that needs to be
preserved. Tapis cloth in Lampung society created to harmonize human life both
to the environment and the Creator of the Universe. This study aims to provide a
description of the values contained in the tapis cloth, analyze the symbolic
aesthetic values embodied tapis cloth in Lampung, and reflect on the relevance of
the study aesthetic tapis cloth to the development of culture in Indonesia.
This research is library research with tapis cloth Lampung as a material
object and aesthetics as a formal objects. This study were collected from a book
that examines the tapis cloth. this study were analyzed using hermeneutic methods
with following elements : description, interpretation, internal coherence, synthesis
analysis, philosophical reflection, and heuristics.
The results of this study indicate that the tapis cloth is a cultural area that
has the beauty of art and has a high aesthetic value. The beauty of the tapis cloth
contained in the beauty of form and content. Symbolic meanings contained in the
tapis cloth found in every variety hias. Aesthetic values contained in the tapis
cloth be appropriate and relevant to the people of Indonesia. These values are
religious values, moral values, values alignment and intellectual values. Tapis
cloth are proven to contribute to the development of Indonesian culture. The
presence of tapis cloth should be preserved to enrich the national culture and
introducing regional culture. Tapis cloth as disposable items is a media delivery
messages that can lead people to a life of harmony.
