Summary: | Background: Tim Mobile Clinic (TMC) is one of health services activities in
through the Ministry of Health of Indonesia for the people in the province of
Papua. To ensure quality, efficacy, and safety of the medicine to consumers,
is necessary in a comprehensive medicine control, Therefore, evaluation of
the pharmaceutical distribution system at the TMC on P2KTP program in
Mimika District, Papua, was to be conducted in order to improve the quality of
health services in Papua.
The objective of this study was to evaluate the quality of pharmaceutical
distribution system based on Good Distribution Practice (GDP) at the TMC in
Mimika District, Papua Province.
Methods:analytical descriptive study using retrospective data. The material
studied is the process of drug distribution management include quality
management, personnel, facilities, documentation, management information
systems, and self inspection within two years (2009-2010). The information
was gathered from respondents actors and policy makers consisting of Head
of Health department Mimika, Head of Human Resources Healthcare, Head
of Health service, Head of pharmaceutical facilities, by means of in-depth
interview to key respondents and distributed questionnaires to 26
pharmaceutical manager officers (PMO) at 13 TMC and 13 health centers.
Qualitative and quantitative data were triangulated and then compared to the
requirements as established by the GDP.
Result :Pharmaceutical distribution on TMC unfulfilled some aspect on GDP
guidelines as follows: there�s no Coordinating Team that ensure the
medicines quality in the implementation of TMC pharmaceutical distribution,
the lacking of pharmaceutical distribution standard operational procedure,
there is no pharmacist in the distributor chains.
Conclusion:The pharmaceutical distribution of TMC does not fulfill the GDP
guidelines established by BPOM RI. There are weaknesses in the aspects of
quality management, personnel, documentation, management Information
systems, facilities, and self inspection. The results of this study whould
helpP2KTP program managers to improve TMC pharmaceutical distribution,
based on the results of CARL analysis that has been prepared together with
the TMC Managers.
