Summary:Background: The information age is now making needs and the role of information is so important in all aspects of life, including in education. Over time, the development of information and communication technology devices is growing rapidly so open competition as possible for any organization or agency to apply information and communication technologies to support themselves and improve service performance and organizational productivity. Application of academic information system is expected to help the Health Polytechnic of Palu in managing student data, lecturer data, value data, the data of subject and the rector and department administration that is still done manually so it can streamline the time and minimize errors that occur. Objective: This study aims to develop a system of academic information as needed to support performance at academic activities in Health Polytechnic of Palu. Methods: The study was conducted in Health Polytechnic of Palu, this study used an action research phase. Data and information obtained by observation and in-depth interviews. Observations carried out in the academic administration to study the process of academic services, document format used and the resources available. Interview conducted on 17 respondents to find the data and information needs of users of the application. Results: The prototype web-based academic information system to process data and academic information. Users can access it online and real time. Prototype built using prototyping. In the prototype design stage DFD technique was used to describe the process that logic occurs. The design of the physical database using the relational data model to map groups the data into tables consisting of rows and columns. ERD technique is used to describe the relationship between the tables. MySql software used for storage the database academic information system. Making the display application using Code Igniter PHP based frameworks and writing program code using PHP programming language. Conclusions: The design and implementation of academic information system prototype web-based of Health Polytechnic of Palu can help employees to implement academic services and be accepted by the respondent.
