study aimed to determine the effect of soil texture, soil pH, soil organic matter, and soil
water content on oviposition of L. stigma. The study was conducted from October 2012
to January 2013 at the Laboratory of Biological Control, Faculty of Agriculture,
University of Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta. Experimental design used was CRD (complete
randomized design) with 15 replicates for soil texture, pH, and organic matter
treatments, and 3 replicates for treatment of soil water content. The results showed that
soil texture and soil water content significantly affect oviposition of Lepidiota stigma.
Sandy loam soil is the most preferred by L. stigma to lay their eggs. Sandy loam soil
with 15% - 20% water content is the favored conditions for L. stigma to lay in their
eggs. The higher soil pH and BO, the higher the number of eggs laid by the beetles. |
