Summary: | Java turmeric is a plant that widely used as traditional medicines. The problem in
cultivating this plant was the rhizomes could not grow quickly and uniformed. The objective
of this research was to accelerate rhizome sprouting and find the best concentration of
coconut water and cow urine for rhizome sprouting. This research was conducted in
Pusmalang Village, Cangkringan, Yogyakarta from August until November 2012. The
experiment was arranged in Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with three replications.
The treatments were soaking in cow urine with 25%, 50%, and 75% concentration, soaking in
coconut water with 25%, 50%, and 75% concentration, and soaking in aquadest treatment and
no soaking treatment as controls. The result of this experiment showed that rhizomes in 50%
concentration of coconut water soaking caused higher vigor index to other treatments.
