Description
Summary:The purpose of this study was to determine whether the treatment of class II Division 1 malocclusion with Begg technique fixed appliance would normalize the distance of AO-BO and to determine whether any changes on occlusal plane angulation would have an effect on AO-BO distance. The study was carried out using 24 pairs of ceph of class II Division 1 malocclusion before and after treatment. These cases were divided into two groups. One group consisted of 18 samples using extraction of 4 first premolars and the other group consisted of 6 samples using extraction of 2 upper first premolars. The distances of AO-BO were measured and analyzed with descriptive statistic test to determine the direction of the percentage changes whether going towards normal, away from normal or remain the same. T tests were carried out to determine whether the changes of AO-BO distance and occlusal plane angulation were significant. Regression analysis was used to determine whether the changes of occlusal plane angulation had an effect on AO-BO distance. The results of the study showed that 50% of the samples became normalize. The t-test showed that changes were significant with p value = 0.007. The changes in the occlusal plane angulation were unsignificant with p value = 0.096. Correlation analysis showed that there were unsignificant correlation between the changes of occlusal plane angulation and AO-BO distance after treatment.
