description | Nowadays, power system unstability could be caused by sudden change in load
or disturbance like short circuit. Power system stability needs to be protected to prevent
loss of synchronization. One kind of ways to increase power system stability is by
installing power system stabilizer (PSS). Power system stability could be increased
more by adding thyristor controlled series capacitor (TCSC). A TCSC could increase
power system stability with help from a control called power oscillation damping
(POD). The performances of PSS and POD are depend on control structure of the
devices.
In this research, the controls of PSS and POD were designed to increase power
system stability. Lead-lag two stage was proposed as control of PSS, and proposed
control for POD is linear quadratic regulator (LQR). The control parameters of PSS and
POD were designed by using optimization method particle swarm optimization (PSO).
The dynamic and stability of power system with proposed controllers was investigated
in single machine infinite bus (SMIB) Phillips-Heffron and using sudden change in load
as disturbance in different loads. The simulation results show that proposed controller
could increase power system stability and reliable in different loads. |
