Summary:Indonesia is an agricultural country where the horticultural sub-sector is one of the industry with huge potential. Existing data suggest that local fruit native to Indonesia have difficulty to compete with imported fruit when viewed from the aspect of acceptability, affordability and availability. The absorption of the product is low when compared with imported fruit affecting the bargaining power of farmers as producers of local fruit, especially salak which is the object of research. This study aims to make a plan for increasing the value of salak itself which is needed to improve the welfare of the farmers in Turi Sleman using social entrepreneurship concept. The object of the study consists of salak community farmers in Bangunkerto Village in Turi Sleman Yogyakarta. This study was conducted by direct observation in the field and doing interview with the representation of the salak community farmers using concept SWOT guidelines of Osterwalder and Pigneur (2010). The results of the observations is used to formulate the existing business model and as the basis for data analysis for SWOT concept. The plan for increasing the value of salak have changed every element of the existing business model. Blue Ocean Strategy help to create the innovation for the existing business model and eliminate the element which is not effective and efficient in the existing business model. The new improvement business model with blue ocean strategy concept shows that new product with branding and interesting design of packaging would increase the value of the new product significantly. The new business model with the new concept hopely could help the farmers for increasing the value of salak and the welfare of the farmers in Turi Sleman, Yogyakarta.
