Description
Summary:Money is the crucial incentive to increase work motivation. Many companies have been using incentive systems to motivate their employees to increase their performance. GlobalTV as one of the youngest national wide television station in Indonesia is also using incentive system to motivate its employees in Programing and Production Division. This is aimed to increase share, which is the performance measurement for a television program. Television stations sell television programs to advertisers. The higher the programs share, the higher is the advertising spot price. Advertising will be sold easily with higher shares in any programs. During incentive implementation (October 2010 to December 2011), there have been some troubles occurred. Employees were not satisfied with the incentive, they considered it not fair. There was also no fixed schedule for the payment. Having recognized those troubles, Programing and Production incentive implementation need to be evaluated, to identify its effectiveness in motivating employees work performance that leads to share increment. Analysis was done using qualitative descriptive method. Data was acquired from interviews with respondents from managerial level at Programing and Production Division. Analysis result shows that using incentive system to increase share is a correct way. Although, share increment depends on content, awareness and reception. Content is Programing and Production Divisions responsibility, however awareness is promotion departments responsibility and reception is Technology Divisions responsibility. There was a gap on fairness perception between management and employee, where management considered the incentive system is fair, and on the contrary employee considered it not fair. Overall, incentive system implementation is not effective because it didnt cause increment in employees motivation and performance.
