Summary: | The aim of this thesis is to determine the role of Air Force Special Forces in carrying out
Search and Rescue (SAR) humanitarian operations in the province of Yogyakarta and its
surrounding besides the implications of optimizing the role of Company E BS Air Force Special
Forces to the Regional resilience.
This research is descriptive qualitative. Some methods are used for collecting data like
observations, interviews and documentations not only in seeing, observing and analyzing but
also describing systematically the effort to optimize the role of Company E BS Air Force Special
Forces in helping SAR operations in disasters of aviation, shipping and other natural disasters
and the implications to the the regional resilience as well. The research was conducted in
Company E BS Special Forces, Adisutjipto Air Force Base. Research samples were officials
Adisutjipto Air Force Base and Company E BS Air Force Special Forces, as well as personnel
directly related to the implementation of SAR Company E BS Air Force Special Forces
operations.
The result showed that the implementation of SAR Company E BS Air Force Special
Forces operations in Yogyakarta has been running well although it is still not optimum. The
limitations of personnel, both in their quantity and quality, SAR equipments and devices
problems, facilities and infrastructure particularly for mobilization air, and also communication
and coordination problems among SAR Company E BS Air Force Special Forces and other SAR
teams in Yogyakarta are some constraints which faced by SAR Company E BS Air Force
Special Forces.
As the conclusion, by striving for optimizing the role of Company E BS Air Force
Special Forces in assisting the implementation of SAR humanitarian operations, the result of
optimizing the role Company E BS Air Force Special Forces in disaster areas will be able to
minimize casualties
