Summary: | The Indonesian Forest and Land Rehabilitations (FLR) are facing more
complex problems meanwhile critical land increases significantly. Therefore, in
overcoming these problems, FLR should be planned by considering various
aspects such as biophysical and social aspects. One of the FLR planning
approaches that consider both biophysical and social aspects is CASM
(Capability, Availability, Suitability, Manageability). This study aims to indentify
the aspects, criteria, and indicators which need to be considered in classifying the
Land Mapping Unit (LMU) and to determine the clusters as the result of LMUs
classifications in FLR planning.
This study has been conducted at state forest areas, RPH Menggoran, BDH
Playen, KPH Yogyakarta. The LMUs classification or area stratification in FLR
planning uses a multi-criteria cluster analysis.
The results of this study indicate that areas of RPH Menggoran is divided
into 3 clusters which are distinguished by the Characteristics of Vegetation, the
Characteristics of Soil and Water Conservation, and the Social Readiness. On
Cluster 1, all of these three characteristics include in the medium category. Then
in Cluster 2, the Condition of Vegetation is in the medium category, the Condition
of Soil and Water Conservation is in the poor category, and the Social Readiness
Aspect is in the very poor category. Whereas Cluster 3 has the Condition of
Vegetation in medium category, the Condition of Soil and Water Conservation is
in poor category, and the Social Readiness is in a good category.
