Summary: | Dense settlements on riverside with disaster vulnerability and high level of
environmental degradation are an integral part of most cities in Indonesia. Because of
'compulsion' limited income people fill the spaces uninhabitable organically, forming
alleys, as well as an open pocket space naturally, as the unity of living space that supports
high social interaction in it. Current programs related to improving the quality of dense
residential village habitable space then consolidate the kampung kota living space into a
more humanize form of arrangement, one of which is the kampung city block
arrangement.
Space syntax method is used as a tool to analyze the performance of the global
space of the configuration space on the existing site and the proposed site configuration
proposed kampung city block, which is represented by the syntax Integration, Connectivity,
Mean Depth and intelligibility and then compare.
The results on the riverbank settlements Gajah Wong in Yogyakarta shows a
positive trend of improved performance configuration space habitable space
consolidation proposal kampung city block models when compared with the existing
settlement conditions.
