Malay (MA) and Malay Loloan (ML). The purpose of this study is to describe
synchronic and diachronic happenings in MA and ML also to see the extent of
retention-innovation and correspondence-variation of both.
Data collection of this study was to consider the simak method and cakap
method. Both method capably performed by integrating the advanced techniques,
rekam and catat techniques. Data analysis done by combining the method of
quantitative and qualitative methods. Quantitative method�s used is the technique
lexicostatistics, whereas qualitative methods is the comparative method through topdown
methodology reconstruction. The results of data analysis done with formal and
informal methods.
The results are described based on synchronic and diachronic perspective.
Based on the synchronic study, it was found that at the level of phonology, MA and
ML have the same amount of segmental phonemes, despite the different distribution.
At the morphological level, there is a difference, especially in forming verbs
morpheme affixes. Diachronic study also proves that MA and ML quantitatively
categorized as a common language with the similarity percentage level reached 87%.
Qualitative analysis results showed that at the level of phonology, innovation occurs
regularly on protophoneme vocals */a/ > /�/, */i/ > /e/, */u/ > /o/ ultima. Another
innovation appears with the protophoneme consonant deletion */?/ ultima and */h/
penultimate, substitution * /k/> /?/ and monophtongisations */ay/> /e/ and */aw/ > /o/.
Another sound changes that are variations such as assimilation, dissimilation,
aphaeresis, syncope, prothesis, and metathesis. However, at the lexical level,
significant differences occurred. MA lexicons is more likely to Indonesian influence,
