Summary: | Background: PMTCT is a government program to prevent the transmission of
HIV/AIDS from mother to child at birth. It is in accordance with the MDGs for
maternal and child health, which is to reduce child mortality and prevent the
spread of HIV/AIDS. Implementation of PMTCT at health centers that have VCT
clinic is a program that has been implemented since 2007.
Objective: To evaluate the implementation of PMTCT program at ANC in
Sangkrah and Manahan Health Centers of Surakarta, and specifically determine
the implementation of ANC standards based on input indicators, process and
outcome.
Methods: The study was observational with a cross-sectional design, using
quantitative and qualitative approaches. The study was conducted at Sangkrah and
Manahan Health Centers of Surakarta, particularly in MCH unit. The subjects
were all pregnant women who did ANC at the study sites during the study period.
This study used primary data by directly interviewing the pregnant women and the
health workers in MCH unit. To deepen the necessary research data after data
collection, in-depth interview was conducted for qualitative data. Data were
analyzed by chi-square statistical test with a significance level of P <0.05 and
qualitative analysis by conducting sheet summary boxes, coding, code patterns,
meeting for logistic regression analysis with significance level of p <0.05 with a
confidence interval (CI) 95 %.
Results: The multivariate analysis showed a significant association between
PMTCT and the implementation of ANC with a value of OR: 3.5 (95% CI 1.05 to
12.24). There was a significant association between skill and ANC (PR = 7.7 95%
CI 1.6 to 36.27). There was no significant correlation between facilities and the
implementation of ANC (PR = 0.2 95% CI 0.02 to 1.69).
Conclusion: There was a significant association between PMTCT and the
implementation of ANC after controlled by the variables of skill and facilities.
Skill had a significant association with ANC.
