Summary: | PDAM as one of the company which provide drinking water network service
is demanded to serve the best to the costumer, but in reality, several problems are occurred in the water distribution process, this problem is caused by several factor such as pressure, leakage, turn, and fitting. A lot of provider doesnt consider secondary energy loss in planning the drinking water network, because in several cases secondary energy loss doesnt give significant contribution, but in other several cases this does give significant contribution.
This research was began by conducting a study to imaginary network, this
network was built to understand factors that induce the secondary energy loss by observing effect of velocity to relative energy difference. Then research was continued with study to actual drinking water network in Indonesia, PDAM Tirta Dharma Unit Srandakan-Sanden represents the simple network and PDAM Tirta Dharma Regency of Cirebon represents the complex network. To both networks, several different scenarios were applied to understand effect of secondary energy loss in a piped drinking water network.
Based on simulation result of imaginary network, increase of velocity in a
network can induce big secondary energy loss. On the network of PDAM Tirta
Dharma Unit Srandakan-Sanden is known that the secondary energy loss was 2% of the main energy loss. Besides that, after applied several scenarios were known that valve in condition of 14 open highly effect the changes of secondary energy loss. On the network of PDAM Tirta Dharma Regency of Cirebon is also known that the secondary energy loss can be ignored, because the secondary energy loss is only 0-7.9% of the main energy loss. Secondary energy loss will give high effect to the end of the pipe, especially if the pressure head in the pipe end is low, then when this condition is occured the secondary energy loss is need to be considered.
