| description | Background: Toddlers are require parents to support their growth and
development. Parents have important role to providing adequat food intake, take
care their social interaction, and provide environment and activity to pushing
children independent for fulfill food intake. Parents feeding ability in toddlers can
not be separated from people around them, usually call as social support.
Objective: This study aimed to determine correlation between social support and
parental feeding behavior of toddler.
Method: This research was quantitative observational with cross-sectional design.
The research was conducted at Puskesmas Depok III work district, Sleman,
Yogyakarta in October-December 2012. The sample size in this study was 85
respondents selected through simple random sampling and total sampling.
Instruments used modification of Social Support Questionnaire and Parental
Feeding Questionnaire. The analize data used non-parametric tests with Spearman�s
rho correlation.
Result: Parents has received social support in moderate category (68,2%),
meanwhile in parental feeding behaviour, parents in good enough category (83,5%).
There was a correlation between social support and parental feeding behavior in
toddler with p<0,05 and coeficient correlation (r)=0,421 in moderate correlation
category.
Conclusion: There was significant correlation between social support and parental
feeding behavior of toddlers. |
