Natural disasters can cause devastating impact in many areas, one of which is the
health sector, the public have difficulty in accessing health services. Therefore, the
role of post-disaster husband needed to support family planning programs either
directly or indirectly.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine relationship between the
role of husband's and the use of contraceptive methods after Merapi eruption
disaster.
Method: Cross-sectional study conducted in 96 male couples of childbearing age
in residential fixed Batur, Kepuharjo, Cangkringan in January 2013.
Questionnaires husband role that consists of 5 statements husband role as
motivator, 5 statement husbands role as facilitator, and 5 statements husband role
as educator, as well as the use of contraceptive methods questionnaires before and
after the catastrophic eruption used in this study.
Results: The results showed that the use of male contraception has increased from
9.4% to 10.4%, while for women contraceptive use decreased from 83.3% to
79.2% after the eruptions. Men who have a role as a motivator, facilitator and
educator in good categories at 59.4% (57/96), 77.1% (74/96), and 53.1% (51/96).
The results showed a lower percentage than in the condition is not catastrophic.
Most respondents who used a contraceptive method is that respondents have a
good husband role. After analysis, it was found that there was a significant
relationship between the role of the husband's post-disaster use of contraceptive
methods (p <0,05).
Conclusion: There was significant association between PTSD and the prevalence
of PSM and PMDD in teenagers post Merapi eruption.
There was significant relationship between the role of husband with the use of
contraceptive methods in post-disaster fertile couples eruption. |
