Description
Summary:The transportation of livestock especially cattle, has become a major interest because of stress that affects health and meat quality which indirectly also related with the economy. The aim of this study is to observe the effects of four hours transportation on hematological profile of Ongole Crossbred cattle. Five cows Ongole Crossbred used as the object in this study. In the first step, the cows blood was withdrawn from jugular vein before transportion. Then, it was transported for four hours using open trailer truck, 4.3 meters length and 2 meters width, from Saradan, Baturetno, Wonogiri to Cangkringan, Sleman. The cows were carried out at rainy night with average speed of vehicle 40-50 km/hour. During transportation, all of cows were given king grass without water consumption. The blood sampling was repeated after the animals arrived at Cangkringan, Sleman. All the blood samples were send for routine blood examination The result showed that transportation caused significantly difference in numbers of eosinophil and TPP (P<0.05). Meanwhile there were no significant difference statistically in numbers of leukocyte, neutrophil, lymphocyte, monocyte, hemoglobin and PCV (P>0.05). It was concluded that four hours transportation cause decreasing of eosinophil and TPP.
