Summary: | Toxoplasmosis is a disease caused by Toxoplasma gondii. The parasite
forms a cyst who settled in the tissues of the body such as the lungs, heart, brain,
and skeletal muscle. Some drugs have been produced to treat toxoplasmosis, as
example is Toksoplasma Nuur and Intertrim® LA. This research aims to know the
influence of Toksoplasma Nuur and Intertrim® LA against the histopathology of
liver and brain of mice that infected with Toxoplasma gondii strain RH 1x103.
Twenty-one mice (Mus musculus) divided into 4 treatment groups, group I as a
negative control, group II infected by Toxoplasma gondii as a positive control.
Toxoplasma gondii infection Group III and given Toksoplasma Nuur peroral 0.4
ml 2 x/day doses 8 mg/mice, dispensing is done until all the mice are dead.
Toxoplasma gondii infection Group IV and given Intertrim® LA peroral 0.2 ml 1
x/day doses 20 mg/kg, dispensing is done until day 17th, on the 22nd day of the
mice are at euthanasia. Mice in the necropsy, liver and brain samples were taken
for histopathology examination. Results of the research showed that the
Toksoplasma Nuur cannot treat toksoplasmosis. It is proven by the death of mice
that earlier and on the histopatology of liver occurring necrosis, degenerations and
occur brain gliosis. On the granting of Intertrim® LA can treat toksoplasmosis dan
can extend the vitality of mice that infected with Toxoplasma gondii strain RH
(type I). In conclusion, toksoplasmosis can not be treated with Toksoplasma Nuur
but Intertrim® LA can.
